The Handle with Care model can also include those caregivers and teachers within Child Care and Early Learning Centers. It is important for those working with Pre-K aged children to learn about the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences and how to respond to children in a trauma-informed way. This training will review the impact of ACES on young children, explore the risk and protective factors, identify unique behavioral patterns of infants/toddlers and preschool children and suggestions on how to respond in a trauma-sensitive way. It also explains the Handle with Care model as it is set up in Manatee County and provides a certification of completion upon taking a short quiz. Upon completion of the training, a child care provider will be prepared to receive a Handle with Care notice.
